DIY (Do It Yourself) De-commissioning of Your IBM ™ 3745 FEP. While we would like to help you with a turnkey solution, it's even more important to us that your IBM 3745 and 3746 equipment is properly recycled in the USA. So if you've already provided for de-installation, packing and freight, call us if you need assistance locating a responsible de-manufacturer and recycler. We'll be pleased to provide you with one or more names of the best recyclers we know.
Data Center Equipment End-of-Life Recycling - The Wise Business Choice There was a time when a data center manager could call any number of "metal guys" to simply come and take away excess or obsolete equipment. This was a time of "no cost and no questions." Very few in the industry knew or thought much about the process, and no one knew that this equipment might be exported for open air burning and unsafe handling. Awareness of constituent toxic materials was minimal, perhaps non-existent. We now know that each of us has the ability to stop unsafe practices and that we share the responsibility for seeing that the e-waste problem is solved. Further, the top executives of our public corporations expect that company employees will make responsible decisions to mitigate liability that could result from improper handling. We can work together to see that our end-of-life equipment is handled here in the U.S., by American workers and by companies that have invested in the equipment and processes that ensure worker safety and environmental protection. Whether you decide to have
Mid-Atlantic provide a turnkey 3745 end-of-life service package to
your company or whether you wish to handle your own 3745 FEP
disposal, we would like to be a part of a responsible solution.
If you choose Mid-Atlantic, we will take care of all end-of-life
tasks from 3745/3746 de-installation through de-manufacturing and
recycling by one of USA's most responsible recyclers. If you
choose to handle de-commissioning on your own, we'll be pleased to
help you find the responsible recycler closest to your data center. 2. We employ the services of qualified, experienced electronics movers for safe removal from your facility. We make all arrangements for direct delivery of the packed equipment to the de-manufacturer, ensuring that no intermediary can take possession of the equipment. 3. We minimize trucking distance by shipping materials to the closest de-manufacturer meeting our standards of responsibility and employing the highest industry standards. 4. While we encourage you to remove all company property tags before de-installation, our technicians are trained to remove tags and to leave them with company management before packing your equipment. 5. We can arrange for off-site data cleansing and hard drive shredding, but we suggest that servers and storage devices be cleaned on-site, by company personnel using multi-write-over software. IBM 3745/3746 FEPs contain no useable company data and are not vulnerable. 6. If you'd prefer to handle disposal of your data center equipment without employing our service - no problem. We'll be pleased to help you to find a responsible recycler closest to your facility. We want to be a part of the solution. Let's work together to make certain that end-of-life data center equipment stays out of landfills and that it is processed here in the USA, by US workers and companies.
